The recent coronavirus outbreak has increased calls for the trade in wildlife to be stopped because scientists say evidence points to coronavirus coming from animals, most likely horseshoe bats, and transferred via pangolins from ‘wet’ markets, where animals that are alive and dead are sold as food.

C1. “Wet markets should be banned.” Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your view.

I agree with this statement because if there wasn’t ‘wet’ markets, coronavirus,and other viruses such as SARS and Ebola wouldn’t have cause pandemics like the one, we’re living through or lived through. To prevent any further pandemics in future, the wet markets should be banned permanently.
