MIGRATION

There is a civil war in Syria. Almost 3.9 million Syrian people are refugees. 2 million of these refugees are children. Their main destination is Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon, Egypt and Iraq. They need food, clothing, fuel and stoves for food and heat. They need clean supplies of water.

the largest number of Syrian refugees is in Lebanon. There are so many that one in every four people is a Refugee. I read about a boy called Nidal who is six years old. He left Syria because of the gunfire and explosions. His grandmothers house was destroyed with bullets. Men were running and shooting in the streets. They killed Nidal's father and he thought he would die. He wanted the war to stop so he could return home and be safe.

Migration has happened through history. In the 12th century AD the Aztecs were a tribe who after two centuries of migration and warfare, finally settled in the area which is now known as Mexico City.

On 7th November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan caused a storm surge which was 25 metres high over the town of Tacliban in the Phillipines. People's homes were destroyed and 220,000 people in the town were displaced and had to leave and live elsewhere.
