Robin took a deep breath. He slowly raised his bow and aimed. He aimed so precisely he hit the target in the middle. He was as strong as an ox and as brave as a lion. He had lots of patience and courage in him. He used lots of hours practicing with the beautiful and beautifully curved yew bow which thickened his muscles like a hempen rope. He felt connected when he had the bow in his hands but didn't feel active and alive when he didn't have his bow with him. It was like an extension to his body, he was the bow, the bow was him.

I think they chose yew because yew wood is very flexible and strong.

3.Why is robin alone in the woods?
I think he is in the woods alone because he needs a quiet place to concentrate and practice.

4.What might of caused the rustle in the bushes?
I think maybe an animal or someone might of been spying on him.

5.Can you think of any other skills that require practice, like being an archer?
I think you need patience, precision and focusing

Instructions of how to fire a longbow 

Have you ever wanted to learn how to fire a longbow? If you have 
then this is the right instructions you need to follow. So reader, 
follow the instructions to be a very good beginner to longbows.
Also as much as you follow these instructions you still need to 
practice a lot to be a very good archer. So read on if you want 
to find out how to be a very good archer.

 

First, you need to turn on your left side so its pointing directly to the target. Your back and front toe straight towards the centre of the target.

Next, put the end of the arrow onto the string. It should click on. Put your first three fingers of your right hand. One above and two below also known as the Mediterranean draw. 

Then, pull the arrow towards the corner of your mouth. When you do this you need to pull your back arm in a straight line. Your elbow also needs to be in a straight line and to the the corner of your mouth.

You need to roll your shoulder so your using your chest and back muscles. Push your front arm as much as you pull your back arm so both arms are working.

If you hit the target a few times you did great but you still need to practice a lot to get better. But its your first time. If you didn't really hit the target its fine don't worry you just need a lot of practice. Hope you liked learning how to fire a longbow.
