FOOD AND DRINK IN ANCIENT GREECE
The Ancient Greeks typically ate three meals a day. Breakfast , lunch and the biggest meal of the day was dinner which was eaten around sundown. Dinner would sometimes be a long social event with a variety of foods including vegetables , bread , eggs , fish and cheese. The main meat was fish , but the wealthy would sometimes eat other meats including beef , chicken , lamb and pork . The family typically did not eat together as a group . Men and women ate their meals separately , either in different rooms or at different times . After they ate their dinner , they would make cakes such as honey cakes .The Ancient Greeks grew olives , grapes , figs and wheat and kept goats , for milk and cheese . They ate lots of bread , beans and olives .
