Weird But Wonderful

As I was going about my normal, morning routine (get out of bed and get ready for work), I was struck with this weird but wonderful thing. The pavement outside my window was starting to disappear and ooze liquid. I went outside to investigate but the pavement was red hot. I found a ladder and climbed up it to escape the heat. As I was climbing up the ladder, some coins fell out of my pocket sinking into the pavement never to be seen again. As I looked around I saw people sinking into the ground. What was going on?
