1936 - German troops enter Rhineland.

1938 - Germany invades Austria.

1938 - Germany takes control of the Sudentenland region of Czechoslovakia.

1939 - Germany takes control of whole of Czechoslovakia.

1939 - Germany begins the invasion of Poland.

1939 - Britain and France declare war on Germany.

1939 - The USSR invades Poland from the west.

1939 - The capital of Poland, Warsaw falls to Germany control.

1940 - Germany invades Denmark and Norway.

1940 - Germany invades Netherlands and Belgium.

1940 - British troops evacuate from Dunkirk.

1940 - Belgium surrenders to Germany control.

1940 - Norway surrenders to Germany control.

1940 - The Blitz started. 40,000 civilians were killed during the war.

1940 - Germany takes control of France.

1941 - Germany turns on it's Allies and attacks the USSR.

1941 - The USA joins the war.

1944 - D-day. Britain, USA and Canada invade Normandy in France.

1944 - Paris liberated from Germany control.

1945 - Allies invade western Germany.

1945 - Germany is invaded from the east by the USSR. Berlin is liberated.

1945 - War in Europe ends.
