My Experience at The Shaw Theatre.
I was really excited during the run-up to the Easter Holiday because I was going to be in lots of shows! The acting school I go to puts on two annual shows every year. But this year they put on four and out of those four I was in three of them!
The first one I performed in was Annual Dance Show One. We had to get to The Shaw Theatre at 9:00 for the rehearsal. I met my friends Keera and Libby while we were waiting to go in. Finally we were let in and when we got into the dressing room we realised that we were the only ones from our class. It was even worse for Ashani who didn't have anyone there from her group apart from a few girls in the ballet dressing room. Gradually our other friends arrived and shortly after we were called to rehearse our number on the stage. Waiting to do the real show was much more boring than the rehearsal. Then it got much better after we had to rehearse in the corridor. Once we finished the song we discovered that you can listen to the music through speakers on the wall . When we went on stage with the AUDIENCE watching I did everything as perfectly as I could. Then the dance reached my solo and I was relieved to find I did it well. We were supposed to go to the Annie tech rehearsal but we decided to do the Finale and following that we dashed backstage to change for the Annie technical (tech) rehearsal.
While I was waiting for the tech rehearsal to start I tried to change from my black leggings to knee long socks in my starting position. WARNING! Not easy to do while pretending to be asleep.
When the overture finally started playing I felt something inside me that was telling me here we go! I coudn't wait for the actual show to start and I was playing the part of Annie. I peeped out and saw Ella, Sophia, Thora and Bailey sitting in the audience. I also spied my cousins Dhilan and Ela who are twins, as well as Granny B. Then I had to go and put my microphone on so I coudn't see anyone else. Then the show was beginning. In the show I sang the song 'maybe' to the orphans. I lied to Officer Ward and I was invited to spend two weeks with Mr Warbucks who was very rich, where I was fussed over by his staff. I changed into my red Annie dress. I watchted Lily, Rooster and Miss Hannigan sing Easy Street.I visited Bert Healy. I saw Rooster and Lily trying to be my parents and being arrested a day after. Then suddenly I was singing the last few words and then Annie was all over.
The worst thing about going to a rehearsal straight after another show is that some people have to get dressed on the stairs and I was one of those people. After that I dashed downstairs and Miss Susan put up my hair. Because our Ballet was the fourth act in our show we were allowed to watch the rehearsal. All too soon we had to stop watching and go backstage because the audience was arriving. We had to wait a long time to go on stage after our Ballet performance. Thankfully we made up games to pass the time. Furthermore it gave us time to eat. I hadn't eaten for ten hours so I was starving. By the time of the finale I was thoroughly bored, but I knew I was going to Pizza Express after! Yum-yum!
