Today is International Nurses day and Florence Nightingale's 200th Birthday.
Florence Nightingale was born on the 12th of May 1820 in Italy and moved to England when she was a baby. As a young woman she believed that god told her to be a nurse.
There was not any toilets in the Hospital so it was very dirty and very smelly. To try and stop the germs they washed their hands regularly , served better food to the patients and cleaned the hospital. These changes saved many lives.
