How to find the area of a circle!

Welcome back to another lesson by Yasar and Hasan !

We're going to find out how to work out the area of a circle!!!

So the formula is : π r2

Don't understand?

Pi is a mathematical constant which is an infinite decimal. You can use it to find the area of a circle. The decimal is approximately 3.14159265 but for short we use it as 3.14! Simple! Also this is the symbol: π!

The radius[r] is a straight line from the centre to the circumference[the round line] of a circle or sphere. To find the area of a circle you need to square the radius then multiply it by pi [3.14]. But, the examiner may say a word called the diameter. A diameter is double the length of the radius. For example, if the diameter is 12 cm the radius is 6cm.

So lets try it out, here are some questions! Tell me your answers in the comment section below!

The diameter of a circle is 18cm, what is the area of the circle?

The radius of a circle is 20 cm, what is the area of the circle?

Remember, square [times it by itself] the radius, FIRST!

Remember, the radius is half of the diameter and the formula is 3.14 x the squared radius!
