Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin was invited to be a naturalist on a science expedition. He sailed all around the world on the HMS Beagle and started his trip in 1831. He researched plants and animals.
When Charles Darwin returned home in 1836, he wrote a book called On The Origin Of Species. His book was published in 1859 and sold the books in 1 day. On The Origin Of Species was all about natural selection and evolutionary biology.
During his trip on the HMS Beagle he travelled along the coast of South America. One of the islands he mainly vistited was the Galapagos Islands. While he visited the Galapagos Islands, he saw lots of wonderful creatures such as: Seals, tortoises, birds, iguanas, turtles and much more.
Once in Charles Darwins life he trained to be a doctor. He only did this because his father wanted him to be a doctor as he was a doctor too. Charles then quit training because he couldn't watch surgery as it didn't make him feel well. So that then changed his job and his path in life.
While on the HMS Beagle, Darwin discovered the theory of evolution. He discovered this when he was looking at 13 different types of Finches on different islands. Some had long or short beaks. That's how he discovered evoloution is where animals adapt to live in their surroundings.
