Chinese New Year
WB-12.02.18
This week in playgroup we have been thinking about Chinese New Year.
We have read stories about the festival and have explored aspects of the Chinese culture. We have made Dragon masks, explored the colours red and gold in through play dough, drew and coloured or own Chinese themed pictures and have also explored Noodles, rice and chopsticks in our Messy Play area. We have also hada look at the Chinese alphabet, we have thought about the the letters in our name and looked at the Chinese letters. We then wrote our names on our invitations and some of us even had a go at writing some chinese letters, Well done!
We also made pancakes this week, we weighed out the ingredients and mixed them all together and then we let a grown up cook them before we ate them all up - they were delicious.
As well as learning about Chinese New Year we have also been exploring the letter sound "e". We have practised saying thesound and have thought about things that begin with that letter. As a challenge some of us practised writing this sound.
We hope you have a lovely break next week and we will see you back in school on Monday 26th February.
