The characters in the story are Oliver, Iris

(the mermaid), Cliff (The wandering Isle)and Oliver's parent's.

The story is about a 10 year old boy. His parents are explorers and Oliver doesn't like it because the first 10 years of his life he has been exploring and he has not been able to go to school. He wants a normal life like any child.
