In WW1 (World War 1) there was an argument between 2 countries, which started a war. The war was taken place in a poppy field, there they started the fight us as a Nation lost a lot of loyal soldiers that day. The soldiers that survived the war started working in a factory to make poppies for all the people - they made them by hand - they made them with paper, scissors and glue. Some people would take notice of what they did and start working there to and families have been working there for generations. People that work there now still make the poppies by hand but there is a machine that marks the outline of the poppies.
