Facts about Mercury

Mercury is the smallest planet in our Solar System. It is also the closest to the sun but not the hottest. Venus is because of it's hot greenhouse gas. It is just a little bit bigger than Earth's moon. Mercury is has a thin atmosphere and NO moons. Mercury is one of the most rockiest planets in our Solar System. It has a solid surface that is covered with craters. Mercury spins slowly compared to Earth so 1 day last a long, long time. Mercury takes 59 Earth days to make a full rotation. A year on Mercury goes by very, very fast. Because it's the closest to the sun it does not take long to go all the way around.It completes a year in 88 Earth days. That means if you lived on Mercury you would have a birthday every 3 months.

A day in Mercury is unlike a day on Earth. For us the sun sets and rises everyday. Mercury only has a a sunrise every 180 Earth days.
