Caroline Hershel was born in Hanover in Germany 1750 and died in 1848.She was famous for

being the first woman to receive honorary membership into Britain's prestigious Royal Society. On August,1 1786 Caroline Hershel identified an object traveling through the night sky. She observed it again the next night and immediately alerted other astronomers by mail to announce her discovery and inform them of its path so they could study it. Caroline Herschel was the first woman to discover a comet.
