Evacuation
Ding, Dong. It was the doorbell ringing. I slouched toward the door and heaved it open.
It was the postman delivering a letter.
"Shut up Max!" I said to my dog, and I took the letter from the postman saying thanks. I opened it, and I could see at once it was an official letter from the government. This is what it said...

We are sorry to announce that all children under the age of 12
will have to leave the country due to the arrival of a German
bombing campaign called the Blits. This evacuation will take place
in 3 days from now.

Your sincerely,
Winston Churchill.

My mouth went dry. I walked into the dining room and handed the letter to my mum. Her face went pale. She got up and walked over to the phone. She dialled a number and started speaking to my dad who was at work. She put the phone down and walked over to me.
"Your going to have to go, and there's nothing I can do about it."
