Plastic Pollution
Plastic Pollution
How is plastic harmful?
Lots of plastic ends up in the Ocean. This is very harmful to marine life and birds and over one million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals die every year.
In the U.S., more than 30 million tons of plastic are thrown away per year and damage the environment nearly immediately.
Off the coast of California, there is the largest ocean collection of plastic in the world. It is twice the size of Texas.
Texas is nearly 700,000 km squared.
Everyone should take action and recycle
because otherwise the world will be
consumed by plastic rubbish.
Did you know:
85% of all sea turtles will die or get injured from
plastic which is frankly terrible.
Around 8 million tons of plastic enter the Ocean yearly.
80% of the plastic water bottles we buy end up in land fills.
Why you should recycle:
You should recycle because then you will be saving millions of animals and marine life. Do not be selfish and use plastic only for your own purpose. Think about the animals next time you go into a supermarket to buy a water bottle or plastic bag
