The Ascent

I was almost at the peak of the mountain. Below me, was nothing, other than the ground at the bottom. I latched my hand to an insecure rock. It broke off, my hand slipped off. I was trying to grasp on to the single rock I was clinging onto with my other hand. “Somebody please help me!” I bellowed. In the distance, I heard someone running towards me. “Hold on to the rope.” he cried. I seized the rope. “I’m trying to hold on, it’s just your too heavy” He shouted. “I have to let go.” I screamed, “It’s the only way, or we’ll both die”.
