Science Experiments
After watching the science video, we tried some of them.
The first one we did was the egg in vinegar one (bouncy egg). We still don't know if it has worked because we have to wait 24 hours! But I think it has worked, as I had a look this morning!
BOUNCY EGG
BALLOON IN WATER BOTTLE
This one worked. What you had to do was put a few teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda into the balloon and then
put it over a bottle, with vinegar in. It blew the balloon up!
COKE CANS IN ICY WATER
What you had to do was put the cans in a pan, on the stove, to heat them up. Then you put them in freezing water and they should crush together. But sadly it did not work, I don't know why!
It may have been because her instructions were a bit unclear. She didn't tell us how much water to put in the cans, how long to heat them or how deep the ice water should be.
THE RIBBON, THE BALLOON AND THE STRAW
We threaded some ribbon through a straw. Then we tied the ribbon from one end of the lounge to the conservatory. We sellotaped a blown up balloon (but not tied at the end) to the straw, then let the air escape. It was supposed to fly along the ribbon, attached to the straw, through the house, but we think, because the straw wasn't big enough to slide over the ribbon easily, instead, it just moved a bit, then stopped! We might try it again with a bigger straw.
I really enjoyed doing these experiments.
