My feet pound against the concrete floor, as I bite my lip. My arms remain in front of me, blocking half my vision. All the blood drains from my face, leaving me pale. "They left me." The thought slithers into my mind. A gruff echoes through the paths. The moon illuminates the tip of the blade. A leaf crunching sounds from behind. Veins pop out of my arms as a creature pounces onto me. I lash out, arms and legs flailing. A scream escapes me as the animal bites my right temple. My blade swiftly moves across it's foot, giving me time to run. Blood oozes from my leg, making me limp. But it made my tongue tingle, how I was still alive. A figure stands in front of me. He scoops me into his arms and speaks the words I've longed to hear. "It's alright. You're safe now."
