Fair trade means that we give the farmers a fair price. They work 12-14 hours a day in South America which the weather is stifling hot. They get approximately 1p out of 30p. That means if they make a 100 bananas they will get only £1 out of £30. Imagine it was you. Won't it be worrying? You won't have to feed your children and may not be able to take your child to school! Thanks to Fair Trade the children are fed properly and taken to school. The chocolates we eat are Fair Trade, most of the bananas, apples, pineapples are fair trade and all sorts of stuff. Carry on buying fair trade food and they will soon be like us!
