Australia and its swimming team are really successful in their career. Fred Lane won Australia's first and second gold medal at the Olympic games in Paris in 1900. Australia have proudly over 1100 swimming clubs. Harold Hardwick and Les Boardman joined up with Malcom Champion from New Zealand to win an Australasian victory together. Fanny Durack was the first Australian woman to go to the Olympic games and win a gold medal in the women's 100m freestyle in Stockholm in 1912. Frank and Lily Beaurepaire became the first siblings to represent Australia. The XXI commonwealth games were held in Australia in the city of the Gold Coast(near the beach) Queensland. Australia has hosted the Summer Olympic games twice at the commonwealth games ,the hosts- AUSTRALIA- won with a total of 196 medals.
