Mixed fortunes for our teams as the A team secured a place in the final four, whilst the B’s were eliminated at the group stage.

21 teams assembled at Whittington Park, with the teams divided into three groups of seven.Our A’s played first and defeated Sacred Heart Primary 3-1. The B’s then followed and drew their first two games 2-2 against Canonbury Primary and St John’s Highbury Vale Primary.

Over on the A’s pitch we took on the strong St Joan of Arc Primary and despite creating scoring opportunities went down 2-0 which also meant it was going to be a hard job to qualify for the semi-finals.

The B’s followed up with another draw at the hands of Robert Blair Primary (1-1) and then had their first defeat losing 3-1 to St Judes and St Pauls A. St Judes and St Pauls B found life harder against our A team as we won 4-2 and then beat Pakeman B 4-0 to have an outside chance of qualification. The B’s ended their campaign well with two wins against Montem Primary (2-1) and St Lukes Primary (2-1).

So it was all over to the A team, a win against Tufnell Park Primary would mean we would finish as the best runner up from the three groups thus giving us a semi-final place, but a win for Tufnell Park would send them through.We started off well working well to defend and then attacked scoring the first try thanks to Stephane. Tufnell Park hit back and equalised but we were ahead shortly after with a try for Eloim.

An end to end game saw Tufnell Park equalise but with seconds left Han’s mazy run took him to the try line to give us a 3-2 lead. However there was enough time for a Tufnell Park attack but the defence held firm and we were victorious.

Due to the volume of games played time had ran out for the semi-finals to be played so it was agreed that the four teams left would come back at a later date to see who would be crowned champions.
