READING WEEK 2

1) A record = America

Coronavirus = India

Helping animals = New Zealand

A new structure = Saudi Arabia

2) A sporty teenager = USA

A taxi driver = New Zealand

An artist = India

A business = Saudi Arabia

Tourists = Gabon

People living in a community = Canada

3a) It is easy for Gorillas to catch human diseases because humans and Gorillas are two species that are very similar.

3b) It would be very terrible if the virus spread to other great apes because it would spread to other animals and apes won't know what to do if they get it or how to try and not get it.

4a) Scaremongering means creating panic and fear. Camaraderie means trust and caremongering is helping people in need.

4b) The new word was created for social media groups in Canada to help people in need.

5) 1. Hutton's shear water birds are raised in the mountains 2. When the chicks are grown, they leave their nests and head for the see 3. Some chicks mistake shiny roads for water and crash into the ground 4. Each night Toni Painting rescued the chicks and putts them in her taxi 5. She drives the birds to a rescue centre, where they are nursed back to health and released.

6) In India the message in the sand is telling people that they need to stay safe and that the person who wrote the message has done their part and now we need to do ours.

7) The hall in 26 metres tall, can seat 500 people and has 9740m2 of mirrors.

8) I would describe the 13-year-old-record-breaker, Zaila Avant-Garde as ambitious as she is not giving up on her dreams and also very brave for going out and doing something she loves.

9) Zaila Avant-Garde = Record breaking basketball, quoted "The more the achievements of woman are promoted, the more little girls around the world will see that they can do anything and everything they put their minds to."

Christian Tchemambela = Keeping our fury cousins safe, quoted "The respiratory virus that affects humans are easily transmitted to great apes because the two species are closely related."

Toni Painting = Taxi's for the birds, no quote.

Valentina Harper = Less scaremongering, more caremongering! Quoted "It's spread the stop of panic in people, brought out community and camardarie (trust), and allowed us to tackle the needs of those who are at-risk all the time, now more than ever."

10) The story about the birds being rescued is cheerful to me because I know people are doing something kind and life saving with their time, even though right now the world is at risk.
