The church was silent. I was trapped and there was no way to escape. Sweat trickling down my face like a stream,I fingered the crumbling walls hoping that there would a loose stone that I could push and escape.The stained glass windows seemed to whispered, "You shouldn't be here, you shouldn't be here." Behind me the noise of a door opening echoed throughout the church. Running down the aisle I looked for a place to hide, wondering when I would next see the light of day. As I dived between two benches, the door creaked open. I was scared that the sound of my heart beating like a continuous drum would give me away. The cold stone floor practically froze my face as I curled up in a ball, praying they wouldn't find me. My mouth was a dry desert as muffled footsteps walked towards my hiding place.
