QUESTION TIME

1.         I think the children in the picture are finding the journey difficult because the snow and ice is slippery and there are lots of cracks to look out for.

2.         I am wondering whether it could be in an igloo but if you had so many people inside it but if so many people were inside it, it might stop being so

effective. I think one of main differences would be that everyone would wear their coats because of the extreme cold (I am assuming).

3.     I think the adults are some parents whose turn it is today to travel with the children to school so they don’t get lost or stuck or hurt and help carry the

things they need for school.

4. I think these children are from green land

because it’s cold there with lots of snow and ice (Iceland is very green and Greenland

is very icy).

5.I think the children would be surprised about

how warm it is even when it’s cold to us and at

1. they would be surprised snow-free roads and cars and all our supplies and how many teachers we have and the interactive board. I think me and my peers wonder about their lack of all of the above.

STORY STARTER

6:00 AM: I left the house on my own, wrapped up in my warmest coat (which I wear every day) to make the 3 km trip. I met up with other children from my village, and we huddled together beneath the mountain to keep warm, waiting for the last couple of stragglers to arrive. As soon as we were all together, two of the dads put their sledges and emergency packs on their backs, and we set off for school. We picked our way over the snow and ice in our boots holding on to one another for support, slipping and sliding, toes and fingers numb, teeth chattering. I slid into a snow-covered crevice twice but everyone always scrambles to help you (I helped about seven people up) the two dads are ever encouraging and all in all today's journey was pretty good and the first km however challenging is the most fun by quite a margin you hardly ever stop laughing, everyone’s friends and to be honest, among the heavy furs and whirling snow you can’t really tell who’s who anyway.

6:45 AM: We quickly stop for an energy

bar (we had made it half way across the rough bit) then were moving again to

keep warm, just the same as before except the snow was even fiercer.

7:30 AM: We all stumbled from the rocks down to the slope and stumbled chaotically in the two sleds it’s fun at first, rushing wind and snow but after about ten minutes it starts to sting your eyes so we all burrow under the blankets and lots of us fall asleep I did

too this morning.

Tonight I am going to help my dad prep

and make a chicken casserole for dinner.
