Henry's wives

Henry VIII was king of England and he had 6 wives. The first wife was Catherine of Aragon, she was a Spanish princess. In 1511 Catherine has a son but unfortunately the baby died! After that Henry and Catherine had a daughter Mary but still not another son, so in 1533 Henry decided to divorce Catherine and marry someone else because all he wanted was a son. Soon later Henry married another wife Anne Boleyn, but still even Anne hadn't had a son but a daughter,Elizabeth so Henry turned against her and soon beheaded her in 1536. Next Henry married a woman called Jane Seymour, Henry was very happy because Jane gave him a son, Edward. But unfortunately Jane died two weeks later and Henry was very sad. Henry's fourth wife in 1540 was Anne of Cleves, from Belgium and Henry had never seen Anne until she came to England for the wedding but saddly Anne wasn't what Henry expected so 6 months later Henry beheaded her. Lastly came Catherine Parr but saddly Henry died in 1556 while Catherine was in love with someone else so actually she survived and got to marry the one she truelly loved.

Henry's family

Henry was born in 1491 in Greenwich Palace in London. His father was Henry VII and his mother was Elizabeth of York. Henry's father was only king for six years when Henry was born and he won a battle to become king. While Henry VII was king he had 2 daughters, Mary was the first and Elizabeth I was the second. He also had 1 son Edward.

Henry facts

Most people in England were tired of battles and they just wanted peace but when Henry was 5, rebels marched into London. So Henry and his mother had to run into the Tower of London for safety.

As king Henry wanted to look rich so he built castles,like the one at Deal, and palaces like Hampton Court.
