Should children be given homework every night?
This is a balanced argument about whether children should be given homework every night.
Firstly, it is a fact that homework is generally a good idea for children because it helps them reinforce what they have learnt during school time. In addition, if the work is given every day it means that it is still fresh in their head. Moreover, it is good to practice what has been learnt without the teacher explaining what to do. Furthermore, it is very good to use your brain to do some work instead of playing video games all evening.
Despite this, after a hard day at school children need some time to relax and enjoy activities that don't include learning. It is obvious that exersise is very important and time after school can be used for enjoying the fresh air, playing sports (e.g football) or learning a new instrument. In addition to this, time after school can be used for playdates and seeing friends which is an important part of growing up. Lastly, children go to school to learn and should not be given extra work at home.
In conclusion, taking all these arguments into consideration I believe that homework should not be given every night although I think it is important to have a few pieces every week.
