St. David's Cathedral

stands on the site of the monastery he

fouded. David and his followers lived a simple life. They refrained from eating meat or drinking beer . David's symbol is now the national symbol of Wales - it is the leek.

David became bishop of the Church and made many pilgrimages. Legend says St. David died in the year 589 and the monastery is said to have been 'filed with angels as Christ received his soul.' It is said that he died on March 1st which is now celebrated as St David's Day.

Legend says that St. David's remains lay in the shrine in the Cathederal. It is an

important place of pilgrimage and has been visited by hundreds of thousands of people.

St. David's last words to his followers were 'Be joyful, keep the faith and do the little things.'

these words are still relevant today.

** My research was completed during a visit to the City of St David's in Pembrokeshire. It was a fun day and i enjoyed leaning about the Patron Saint of wales.
