How the Prehistoric people made paint!
As I was reading my Prehistoric book, I have found out how the cavemen made paint!
Around 30,000 years ago, people painted animals and hunting scenes on the walls of caves they lived in. The paint they used was made out of ground minerals.
1. First find some minerals such as chalk, charcoal, or red clay, or buy them from a craft shop.
2. Grind them using a pestle and mortar to make a find powder ( Make sure to wear a dust mask).
3. Add a few drops of water to the mixture, and mix to make a smooth thick paste
4. A binding agent stops the pigment turning back into dust as it dries. Use egg yolk or PVA Glue for this. You need about a tablespoon of binding agent for every three tablespoons of paste.
5. Use your paint to create a cave painting on the wall! (Make sure its and animal or a hunting scene)
