14.05.2020 Handwriting Blog

Hello Foundation 2! We hope you are having a lovely week. Here are some more ideas to keep you busy this coming week.

Fine Motor Skills

We'd like you to try and use some tongs and/or tweezers! Where do you think you think you might find these? Collect some small objects you could sort into two bowls using the tongs or tweezers, such as pompoms, small toys, cars or rubbers. You could sort them by colour or by saying a number and counting the correct amount into the bowl.

Handwriting

Practice the letters 'i' and 't'. They start, as always, with the 'sweep'. The 'i' and 't' are very similar as they both go straight up and then straight down into their stem before ending with the 'flick'.

However, there are slight differences...

The 'i' is short so we go up to the blue line of the handwriting practise sheet (as shown in the picture on the right) then go down the stem before finishing with the 'flick'. We can then put a nice, small dot on top.

The 't' is nice and tall so we have to take the stem further up to the red line to make it stand out. Once we have done the flick we can finish with a line across its tummy.

Challenge (Optional)

Can you write any words beginning with 'i' and 't'? Maybe you could choose a different colour for each word?

Handwriting practise sheets will be emailed out to parents. We would love to see your work so please make sure you send it to Miss Norton and Mrs Norris, we can then show it on our blog.
