Day 3
The children were awoken to a sight that would stay with us for the whole day…pouring rain! But their spirits were brightened with the arrival of Tony our headteacher. Following another hearty breakfast the children got together to take on their first activity which was Survival Challenge.
This consisted of the children visualising they were in the woods abandoned and having to fend for themselves. Working in teams they all assembled durable, weatherproof and well built shelters. Alongside this, we made bread via the fire and then learnt how to use flint to start one. Despite being soaking wet, the children were commended by Jo our group leader for how well they worked and helped each other.
After lunch we split into our groups to take part in Climbing and Thunder Stack (assembling crates to a certain height and standing on them). There were varying levels of success, but the children can all be proud of the heights they scaled, with both activities really challenging the children physically and mentally.
With no sign of the rain stopping the children were relieved to finally come inside and get dry to visit the gift shop before dinner, which consisted of Fish and Chips, and Rebecca’s favourite Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Custard, delicious! (If anyone from the School Council is reading can we get this on the school menu please?!)
Following this the children had some free time and then back inside for a duvet night, having Hot Chocolate and muffins with DVD and board games to keep everyone entertained.
Please keep posting your comments, the children really get a glint in their eye when they hear what you have to say to them.
Check back in tomorrow to see what Day 4 had in store which will hopefully be rain free!
