Minibeasts
Our new topic in playgroup is minibeasts. So far we have looked at Caterpillars and Butterflies, we read the story The Hungry Caterpillar, also Spiders we have read the book The Very Busy Spider.
When we were reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar the children made a finger print caterpillar and a Symmetrical butterfly. They enjoyed opening up the folded butterfly to reveal the surprise patterns.
We have had a new painting easel, we put shaving foam on it and the children made lots of different marks with their hands and fingers.
When we read the The Very
Busy Spider we painted
Spiders using hand prints.
We had to make sure the
Spider only had 8 legs!
The children also enjoyed making a spider
web out of wool. They passed the wool to each
other across the circle.
