Bonfire Night and Diwali

This week we have been learning about Bonfire night and Diwali, we have thought about these special times and have discussed what happens during these celebrations. We have watched firework videos together, looking at the colours and of the fireworks listening to the sounds they make.

We have also drawn some beautiful pictures in coloured rice; we loved exploring the rice and used our hands and paintbrushes. We also made some rockets; we used glue to stick all the pieces of our rockets together and we had to remember were each piece went!

As well as that we also made some fantastic firework pictures, we splatted paint onto and sprinkled some glitter onto some paper and then placed it inside our spinner, the children then span the spinner as fast as they could to turn the paint splats into beautiful fireworks.

We also did some cooking today; we made poppy biscuits for remembrance Sunday and we spoke about the very brave soldiers and what it means to be brave.

Next week we are learning about babies, your challenge next week is to bring in a picture of yourself as a baby, which we can look at and talk about throughout next week.

Thankyou,

The Playgroup Team.
