Groundhogs are rodents that are mostly found in America.

They like to dig underground tunnels called burrows.

This animal likes to eat leaves, grass, seeds, flowers, berries, fruit, eggs and some insects.

Groundhogs are hunted by many animals including wolves, dogs, coyotes, bobcats, foxes and humans.

In North America and Canada they celebrate Groundhog Day on the 2nd of February.

There is a tradition that if the groundhog comes out of his burrow and sees its shadow it runs back in its burrow and that means that there will be six more weeks of winter.

If it does not see its shadow it means that spring is coming early.
