Abasi's story
Abasi's family are mainly worried about earning enough to live and surviving. When either parent is sick or has an illness, Abasi or Aluna his sister have to step in. The consequence of this is that they will have to miss school. Another worry is that the water they drink will make them sick as it comes from a river, but it is the only drinking water they have. Also they will worry about being able to afford medicine and school.
Going to work rather than school must be very frustrating as you would get tired working as a crop farmer rather than sitting and learning with your friends.
It must feel very scary to be a member of Abasi's family as every day you might be tired, hungry and feeling down. His sister must be very brave to walk all that way to the river if her mother was ill and she is only 8 years old. His dad probably has to rely on Abasi because if he is ill he takes over his job, which could help the family to survive. It must be scary to grow up knowing that you might be sick a lot, like Karim, because he knew lots of children in his village died before they turned 5 years old.
