QUEEN BEE
The Queen Bee held one of her many children in her outstretched hand; the moment she’d been waiting for had finally arrived. The sky was a deep pink and the sun had started to duck beneath the clouds. It was time.
Then it happened. Slowly, but surely, the Queen Bee transformed. She went from tall to small, from quiet to buzzing. Finally after some effort and lots of pain, the transformation was over. Now stood, or should I say hovered, the new Queen Bee. This time a real bee.As soon as she had transformed all the other bees came and huddled close to their Queen. There was some talk and then everyone set off to work.
The day went by smoothly until something bad happened.
It was almost mid day and the air was getting hotter by the second. Most of the bees were busy either foraging for food or playing with each other. Then out of nowhere came a bang. The bees knew this noise too well but soon the hive was buzzing with frightened bees. Over the crowd the Queen Bee spoke.
"Everyone calm down!" she shouted. There was silence as bees everywhere halted.
"We all are familiar with this so there is no need to panic,"
"But what..what if they get us?" shouted someone in the crowd, trembling at the thought.
"Don't worry. We have this all under control. Humans are dumb, we are smart. They are far away, we have time. Any more questions?" asked Queen Bee.
"Umm...how are we going to escape?" answered a small worker bee who was carrying a new born baby.
"We shall exit through the back and wait in our spare hive. It is not as good but we have no choice." It was decided. Everyone piled out the back entrance and waited in the spare hive.
The noises got louder and soon everyone could see men and women gathered around the hive. It was terrible. The bees watched silently as the humans ripped apart their home. Some cried, some where too shocked to speak. When it was all over no one could forget. At least everyone was alright. The evening came slowly and it was now time for the Queen Bee to go.
Everyone said their goodbyes as she transformed back into human form. They watched as she walked into the distance, already eager for her next visit.
