The night zoo keeper experience was amazing. The night zoo keeper came in yesterday. First he did an assembly to the whole school to introduce himself. Him and the head zoo keeper run a (imaginary) zoo that holds special animals which at night they can use their special powers, for example there was an elephant that can travel in time, a spying giraffe and a dancing penguin. After the assembly he went to work with us for the morning (Year 5). First of all we were given a leaflet so that we could design our own made up animal, mine was a Elelepeord (a mix between an Elephant and a Leopard). After we'd drew our animal we had to write down what it likes, dislikes, it's name and why it's special. After that we could have a look in some books to look for any pictures that inspired us to copy from. We were then given a A3 piece of paper and we could paint our animal.
After playtime we went to the ICT suite (computer room) and went onto the night zoo keeper's website. (At playtime night zoo keeper Paul had taken pictures of all our animals). We then went through a list of questions: What does your animal like, dislike, why it's special, it's name, all the same a before, but there were other ones as well like your animal's story, a zoo keeper's mission to make the animal happy. The last step was to download download our picture that we painted of our animal and download it onto web site. For the next fifteen minutes we were aloud to go onto other people's animals and to do their mission.
Overall it was really fun and I highly recommend it but we only got all of this free because Jessica, a girl in our class, made an amazing blog on describing that animal. So get blogging!
