On the 2nd of May was one of Devonshire Hill's biggest football matches ; a qualifier. If we won this we were one step closer to winning the cup.


So before the game we where pumped but ... the chances of us winning was dim because Broadwater Farm have beaten us on all previous occasions.




When we got to the team talk they announced I was the captain so I felt that I had to lead my army into battle.

During the first 10 minutes disaster struck as we gave away a soft free kick.The opposing teams free kick taker stepped up took 5 steps back and blasted it in the back of the net! What a disaster!!!!

We felt hopeless until ... Dreyon scored a wonder of a goal - now we where equal and a better one by me as I went past 3 players and then blasted it sweetly into the back of the net; now we had turned the tables.The scores where 2-1 and it seemed that lady luck was on our side until we conceded a penalty- our keeper had no chance!

Now it was even , 2-2 the scores for the first half .
So my team talk for the second half went a bit like this "stay strong spread the ball around so the opposition do not get it and do not, I repeat DO NOT give them space!!!!". My tactics prevailed because Mohamed scored a goal; a curler of a goal partly with luck (the ball was going at a slow pace) the keeper was about to catch it but the ball took another course into the back of the net followed by Dreyon's second goal of the game ,4-2 the scores until we conceded another goal so the score stood at 4-3 and you guessed it - another goal so 4-4 full time .

So extra time was declared and if we couldn't find a result it would all be down to penalties ; we didn't let that happen because Dreyon scored a wonder volley so it 5-4.

Subsequently this was followed by a goal by me! Making it 6-4 , 4 out of the five minutes left so there was only 1 minute remaining on the clock, one of the longest minutes of my life until this match finally came to an end when the ref blew his whistle and we were on the road to the cup.

My thoughts on todays match against Downhills is that our adrenaline is pumping and if we can channel that adrenaline into quality football, we will! win this cup.
