Tudor towns were dirty, smelly and crowded. There wasn't a proper drain system and rivers of poo and wee ran through towns, into the clean water. This is one reason why illness was common.
Some shops included, bakers, butchers, fishmongers, brewer, cooks, weavers, tailors and robe makers, washerwomen, shoemakers, building workers and carpenters, smiths and metal workers. Not many people could read so shopkeepers had to put signs with pictures on so the public could know what was for sale.

Tudor streets were narrow and houses were close together so there was very little light. The streets were also crowded so it was common for people to steal things easily.

You got your water from pumps and wells.
