The Mary Rose was Henry VIII's favourite ship which he named after his sister, Mary.The ship was built in 1509, the year when Henry came to power.
On 19th July, 1545, the Mary Rose went into battle with the French. The Mary Rose was at the front of the fleet. Henry was watching the battle and saw the Mary Rose being sunk. Nobody knows how it happend. The Mary Rose was found at the bottom of the sea in 1982.
