The war of the roses or the 100 year war was a civil war fought by two families. The Lancastairians and York. The war was all about the heir to the throne, because both families it was them.
Henry IV, the first Lancaster King got there by force. He forced his cousin Richard II to abdicate (when royalty stop ruling before they die.) The Lancaster family were truly not the Royal Family but just cousins. This is when the war started.
Battle of Bosworth/Henry VII
Henry VII defeated Richard III at the battle of Bosworth in 1485. He seized the throne for himself but settled the war by marrying Elizabeth of York. He combined the two family roses (white and red) and made the Tudor rose. They had 8children, Arthur, Henry, Margret, Mary and 4 others that died. Arthur was the eldest so therefore he was the heir to the throne however he died even before his farther.
He was born in 1457 and was crowned in Westminster Abbey 30th October 1485. In most peoples opinion apart from defeating Richard III and uniting York and Lancaster, the biggest thing he did was invade France, in 1491.
He died honourably in Surrey 21st April 1509 age 52.
