During the Tudor rein there was 3 Queens, 3 Kings (that does not include wives and husbands of the heir to the throne.) Here are the 2 of the 3 Queen's background story.
Queen Mary ('Bloody Mary')
Mary was born on the 18th February in Greenwich Palace, (a common Tudor birth place for the rich/court). Her father was the honourable Henry Vlll and mother was Henry's first wife Catherine of Aragon. She was a strong believer of the Catholic church and because of this her younger step brother, who was Protestant, put their cousin Lady Jane Grey , also a Protestant, in charge before his sister Mary who was the heir. However Mary who was strong willed, disposed of Jane after her ninth day!She was crowned at Westminster Abbey on the 1 October 1553. She did good and bad deeds such as: Earning the name of Bloody Mary by executing Protestant, and uniting England and Spain by marrying Philip of Spain. She died in St James Palace, 17th November 1558 age 42. In her will she had requested that she was buried with her mother but she was put in a tomb at Westminster Abbey that later on she shared with Elizabeth l.
Queen Elizabeth l ('The Virgin Queen')
Elizabeth was born at Greenwich palace,l7th September 1533, but was almost immediately removed to a place near Hampton Court called Hatfeild House. However during her rein she moved between the following: Whitehall, Hampton Court, Greenwich, Richmond, Westminster, St James, Windsor Castle, and towards the end of her reign, Nonsuch. The Queen would usually retire to Whitehall for Christmas, then Richmond/Greenwich then Windsor for Easter. Then in the summer she would move between them all. She was crowned in Westminster Abbey on the 15th January 1559. Her reign was 45 years.
Elizabeth never married although she liked to have her entire court thinking she loved them at the same time. The two people she ever came close to marrying where Lord Robert Dudley and Sir Robert Davaux. In 1588 she put both of them in charge to defeat the Spanish armada, this was done to test there loyalty to her. Her chief advisor suggested agents them going but they did.
Her final words she said in parliament where: 'It is not my desire to reign longer than life. You have served me well, you never had, nor shall ever have any that have will love you better.' 16 months later she was dead. She died in Richmond Palace with both the Roberts and her friends the Maids of Honour at her side. She had reigned for 45 years, she had lived for 69 but she had no heir so the Tudor family reign was over.
