The Lighthouse

by Molly Fletcher

My team made our lighthouse by using a kitchen towel cardboard tube, a cardboard box, scissors, coloured paper (blue, red and white), tape, a yogurt pot, a battery, two wires and a light.

First we connected the battery, two wires and light together to make the lighthouse beacon. Next we stuck the red and white paper in a stripy pattern up the kitchen roll tube. Then we cut the cardboard box into two circles, one bigger than the other, and we cut a square in the middle of the smaller circle. We covered the bigger circle in blue paper and used this as our base. We taped the smaller circle on the opening of the yogurt pot and then we put the light into the yogurt pot through the square cut out in the circle. After that, we drew some circular windows and a door onto the tube. We sat the yogurt pot on top of the tube and switched on the light.

Together we found that constructing the lighthouse was easy because we worked well together as a team. We enjoyed this task very much.

Top tip: make sure you talk to your team mates so that everyone knows what the plan is and what they need to do.
