and a special wristbone which is like an extra finger. They use their teeth to peel off the hard parts of the bamboo to get to the soft squishy inside of the plant. Their stomach is coated in a thick layer of mucus so the bamboo doest give them splinters.


BEHAVIOUR:


Pandas are solitary animals who only come together to mate and reproduce.Pandas are very shy so that might explain why they're so solitary. They communicate through scents and calls. Unlike other bears, Pandas do not hibernate.


FUN FACTS:


Pandas have lived on this earth for 2 to 3 million years! The word Panda might have come from the Nepalese word: "Poonya" meaning bamboo eating animal. Sounds fairly accurate! Their scientific name is Ailuropoda melanoleuca which means black and white cat foot. Pandas were once hunted by the Chinese, who believed that their fur would give them magical protection over evil spirits. Pandas are a symbol of peace in China. Hundreds of years ago in China, in a battle if a truce was to be made, they would raise a flag with a Panda on it.


CONSERVATION:


Pandas are one of the many endangered animals in the world. The reason they're going extinct is because the clearing of crops such as bamboo. The pandas won't know where to go and if there is any food so they just die of hunger. We need to act now
