Abasi’s life is different to my life ,because he often gets sick from the dirty water which means he doesn’t go to school that often so he doesn’t learn as much as I do. It is also different because his mum is always going to the river to collect water for the family which is 4 miles there and back, so he doesn’t see his mum a lot.
Instead of my mum going 4 miles to get water in our house we have a tap which when you turn it on clean drinking water comes out which means we don’t get sick. Abasi’s is brown dirty and is not very good for him and his family as it can make them sick with diarrhoea . Many children die at a young age because there is no clean water. Where I live that is not the reason why children are dying.
Abasi lives in a small village and is father is a farmer and his mum can’t work because she is busy collecting water. This means they don’t have enough money for Abasi’s siblings to go to school. In my life we live in a busy city and my dad works in an office and mum works too so water doesn’t have stop my parents from working which means we have more money to live on. Also the government pays for us to go to school but that doesn’t mean it costs nothing as people in London still have to pay for taxes. In London everyone has to go to school unless you are very poorly.
The things that Abasi’s family worry about are that they don’t earn enough money which means their kids can’t go to school and they can’t have such a good life. As there isn’t a lot of money they worry about not having enough food to eat. Abasi worries about the water they bring in that it will make them all ill and then the kids will have to do the parents jobs for example Abasi will have to sell the vegetables. This means they miss school and may not be able to get a good job which makes Abasi sad as he wants to be a doctor.
I think it must be hard to be Karim because when he was a young child he was sick and had diarrhoea and almost died. It would also be hard for him because he would have to start school a year later and catch up with the rest of the children, as his parents don’t haveenough money to get the books and uniform. It would make him feel sad because he would rather go to school than stay at home.
We take clean water for granted. We can turn on a tap and it just comes, unlike Abasai’s life where getting clean water is very difficult and it is all they think about.
