Year 5 and 6 Cre8us Project
This term, years 5 and 6 have participated in an exciting writing project. With support from a freelance writer, we have explored the art of storymaking using the outdoor environment as our stimuli......

As part of this project, in week 3 we invited parents to join us for a writing workshop on 'Creating Photo Stories.'

Take a look at some photographs from the workshop and some of the comments written by the parents when we asked them to evaluate the project and the workshop.
I think that this is a very useful
project and will help the children
to quickly structure a story.
I think sharing with your parent in any workshop is enjoyable and helps children gain confidence. I think this sort of project generates an enthusiasm for writing and gives it a higher profile. A great idea to get the kids thinking while they are having fun!
It's nice to see my child in their school
environment but to have the
opportunity to be part of it too
.
Very impressed with the children's
level of creativity.

Week 1
Week 3
Week 5
Week 4
Using our school grounds as story settings, we
created a story and then had a go at turning
it into a ballad. This was challenging!
This week we had a go at oral story telling. With a partner we had to plan a story and then prepare an oral retelling of it! This really tested us but it was a lot of fun.
First we created our own photographs using props
and the school grounds as our background. Then
we used each others photos to create stories. The
end results were brilliant and we loved it!
Now that we had mastered creating our own story photographs, this week we were ready to create our very own E -Book combining photos and text!
Campbell shared the opening to a story that he had written that was set on the Mount. So we all ventured outside to hear this opening before we had the chance to continue the story in the style of the author.
In our final session, as a class we planned a story which was to be set in our school environment. Each group became responsible for retelling part of the story. We were really proud of what we managed to produce!
