Week Beginning 3rd February 2014
Friday 31st January was a very special day; it
was Chinese New Year, so this week we took part in
lots of activities to celebrate. We've had such an
exciting and fun packed week and learnt lots about
China and Chinese Culture. A lady came in who was
from 'The Educational Dance Workshop' to show us
some traditional Chinese dancing, which we were able
to have a go at too! We also had a visit from 'The
Martial Arts Workshop' who taught us about a type of
martial arts called 'Wushu'. A Chinese family from
school kindly came in to tell us all about where they are
from. They answered all our questions and even taught
us how to use chopsticks.
Did you know the Great Wall of China is one of the 7
wonders of the world and can be seen from space?

In cooking we made and tasted Chinese rice, adding our
own vegetables such as carrots, sweet corn and mange
tout (a new vegetable we learned about this week).

We also created Chinese lanterns using coloured paper,
glitter and sequins, which symbolise hope and good
wishes in China.

been doing this week.
